The Shocking Murder of Baba Siddique: A Deep Dive into the Investigation

Two additional suspects from Bahraich have been arrested by Mumbai Police about the former NCP leader Baba Siddique's murder case.

Baba Siddique (66) was shot dead by three people outside the office of his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique in Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar area on Saturday night, October 12, 2024. The police reported that he was taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Baba Siddique was killed on Tuesday, and on October 15, 2024, Mumbai police detained two additional people from Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. According to information, one of the arrested Sandhehbhajans, Harishkumar Balakram (23), worked at a scrap shop in Pune. Dharmaraj and Sivaprasad Gautam, the two accused, used to work in the same scrap shop and used to supply money and other items.

Mr. Harish had brought new mobile phones for the other two accused just a few days before the crime, which was part of the investigation, officials revealed. Further inquiries are ongoing. On October 14, the Esplanade Court sent the third accused, Pravin Lonkar, to police custody until October 21. He was presented in court after a medical check-up.

On October 13, he was taken into custody in Pune. Leader of the NCP, Baba Siddique, was shot and assassinated in front of his son’s Nirmal Nagar office. He was hit by several bullets and transported to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where on Saturday night, October 12, 2024, he died from his wounds.

Officials claim that Shubham Lonkar’s brother, Pravin Lonkar, was a participant in the plot. Dharmaraj Kashyap, a suspect in the murder of NCP politician and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui, underwent an ossification test administered by the Mumbai police, which revealed that he is not a minor, according to the officials. An ossification test is a medical process that is frequently used to determine an individual’s age. It does this by analyzing the degree of bone fusion. According to the Mumbai Police, the accused were hired to eliminate Mr. Zeeshan and Baba Siddiqui.

During interrogation, the suspects said they had orders to shoot whoever they found Jake, and their main targets were Mr Jisan and his father Siddiqui. Mr. Balkaram was employed as a scrap dealer in Pune, Maharashtra. He revealed that the accused were part of the plot to murder Mr. Siddiqui. According to officials, he has since been arrested in Bahraich.

Four persons have been taken into custody thus far about the killing of Mr. Siddiqui. Two suspected shooters, Gurmail Baljit Singh (age 23) from Haryana and Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap (age 19) from Uttar Pradesh, were earlier taken into custody by the police. Another “co-conspirator,” Pravin Lonkar, was also taken into custody in Pune. Shivkumar Gautam, a resident of Bahraich and another alleged shooter, is still at large.
