Significance of Kali Puja:

 According to mythology, Ma Kali is the fierce angry form of Goddess Durga. Ma Kali is known for her ferocious nature, skulls in her hands skull garlands around her neck, and black-skinned avatars. Goddess Kali was enraged at the moral violations and corrupt human society. she wanted to destroy all who stood in his way. Which was leading all these families to the path of destruction. When all the gods pleaded with Lord Shiva to stop this destruction, Lord Shiva lay down on her way to calm her down. As fierce Kali Mata stepped on Lord Shiva, she left her fierce form and her tongue came out to step on Swami.

This Amavasya Tithi is a significant day for devotees to worship Ma Kali. On this day all devotees keep fast and pray to Goddess Kali for blessings of happiness, wealth, peace, etc. Kali Puja is performed to welcome spiritual growth by removing negative energy, anger, fear, and ego.

Kali Puja is very important because Ma Bhadrakali destroys our negative thoughts and evil that are spread inside us and all over the world. Ma Kali is one of the oldest goddesses in Hinduism. Various Tantric traditions see Ma Kali as their primal goddess of energy, who helps people overcome limitations and illusions.

ma Kali is considered a sacred representation of heavenly protection in Bengal. Many see her as the merciful mother who destroys evil to nurture creation. Ma Kali destroys ego and illusion, freeing her devotees from material attachment and ignorance.

Contrary to her fearsome form, devotees believe that Ma Kali is a loving mother who protects her children from harm and bestows blessings for spiritual growth. Ma Kali takes all her devotees out of the night like the new moon into the light of enlightenment. In the 18th century, this festival gained popularity in the whole of Bengal through the king of Krishnanagar, Sri Krishnachandra.

Rituals of Kali Puja:

Kali Mata likes red jaba flowers. It is believed that to seek her blessings all devotees offer red jaba flowers and sweets along with red vermilion tikka to please her. Most of the Kali Puja ceremonies take place during Madha night. Before the puja begins, devotees clean their houses, take a holy bath, and decorate the place of worship with flowers, oil lamps, candles, and incense sticks. The main idol of Ma Kali is decorated with a red jaba flower, which is her favorite.

Prasad like sweets, coconut, batasa (sugar plum), fruits, etc. are offered to Mata Kali. In some places, animals are sacrificed. Some people who have desire or devotion perform animal sacrifices to seek the blessings of Mother. During puja, priests and devotees chant Kali mantras and hymns to invoke her divine energy.

Also, on that auspicious occasion, Tantra Vidya is performed at several places. Some devotees, especially in Assam, Bengal, and Odisha, perform tantric mantra rituals.
